The European Conference on Wireless Technology (ECWT) will be held from 10 to 12 September 2006 in Manchester, UK. As part of the European Microwave Week, this is the principal forum for the presentation and discussion of new developments in the field of wireless communication technologies. Papers for ECWT encompass all aspects of technology for wireless systems, including for example, system design, antennas, propagation, analogue and digital signal processing techniques and high frequency circuits for wireless systems. ECWT also includes application-specific integrated circuits and modules.

The ECWT is a conference co-sponsored by EuMA and the IEEE MTTSociety. It attracts international experts from academic and industrial backgrounds to discuss recent advances in the wireless communications field.

With worldwide communications shifting from 2G to 3G and long-range planners working on 4G, Wireless Technology is a rapidly expanding field with many new challenges, products and services. As part of EuMW, the 2-day ECWT event brings together researchers and product developers from all over the world to update and share their knowledge. A broad range of sessions are planned covering, but not limited to, the topics below. There will also be focussed sessions of particular topical interest and open forum sessions for less formal discussion of ideas.

ECWT is the premier European forum for the presentation of established wireless technology topics such as development and accurate modelling of antennas, systems and components. It also addresses the latest developments in integration, integrated circuits and modules for wireless products and systems. This year with the explosion of standards, special emphasis will be placed on applications. Authors are encouraged to submit applications specific papers and solutions that meet the challenges of achieving higher data rates and improved spectral efficiency whilst simultaneously satisfying the commercial challenges of low-cost and high-volume production.

The conference is also an integral part of European Microwave Week. Accordingly, along with the key areas of wireless activity, the microwave aspects of wireless communication will be emphasised, and there will be common sessions covering subject matters of mutual interest.

Summaries should be submitted by uploading a pdf-file (portable document format) to the EuMW2006 website: www.eumw2006.com. The Technical Programme Committee will review each summary. For topics common to two conferences as indicated in the topic lists, the decision about acceptance of the paper will be taken jointly by both Technical Programme Committees. However, each summary must be submitted to only one conference, selected by the author(s).

The summary should be in English, typed single space, and be either 2 or 3 pages long, including figures and diagrams. The summary must begin with the title, author’s name, affiliation and full address (including phone, fax and e-mail). It should include an abstract, a brief conclusion, and emphasise what is novel. Refer to the website for further details on evaluation criteria. One author information form per paper must be completed at the EuMW2006 website when uploading the summary.

The deadline for submission of summaries is 10 February 2006. Late submissions cannot be considered.
